Clay,

I was quite skeptical for my first hunt and didn’t know what to expect from Pope Brothers outfitting. I enjoyed hunting on the ranch that he chose and took a nice Blackbuck and a nice Sika deer. Accommodations were great and the food was good. On my second trip to Pope Brothers, I felt a lot better knowing Clay would do his best to get me my next two animals, a Scimitar Horned Oryx and an Axis buck. Hunting on 2000 – 5000 acre ranches is no easy task. We spent almost 2 full days riding in jeeps getting the Axis, and a beauty it was. Clay was endless in his endeavor to get me that trophy Axis. Oh, he also got me a beautiful Scimitar Horned Oryx. The  steaks were great and the ranch accommodations were terrific. By now I had a great sense of confidence in Clay. He always gives 110% to please his client. On trip 3, I took a magnificent Aoudad and a great Spotted Fallow. We were on three different ranches to get the Fallow. Clay wasn’t happy with the quality of the Fallows on the first two ranches and said we could do better. At that point, I knew it wasn’t about the money and that Clay truly wanted the best for his hunter. Well here it is for trip # 4. This time I wanted a Red Stag and a Chocolate Fallow. You have no idea how big a Red Stag is until you try to get one into a pickup. The Red stag was a beauty and the Chocolate Fallow had great palmation and made a fantastic mount. The Red Stag makes an impressive mount and should be on everyone’s list if you decide to do exotics. Hunt #5 included my first Ram plus an Addax. The Black Hawiian Ram had almost 2 full turns an makes an impressive mount. Clay can put you on a beauty. The Addax is truly something to see. Its body is white with a blackish brown mask and beautiful spiral horns. Hunt # 6 was a deer hunt and a ram hunt. I took my son during the bow season and he shot a beautiful 9 point buck with a 5inch split brow tine. I took my second ram. It was a great Texas Dall with heavy horns. That brings us to hunt# 7. This time it was a pure Mouflon Ram and a Zebra. The Mouflon had heavy horns and I can’t wait to get him back. The Zebra probably will be the focal point in my trophy room because of the black and white stripes and because I shot it in Texas. Clay and his family have become like family over the years and you haven’t lived until you have had his wife Holly’s apple pie. Clay is dedicated to his profession and will do what it takes to please his hunters. The guides that work for him are also a great bunch. If you still have any doubts, Clay has the rights to hunt on over 40 ranches. Oh, I almost forgot, in 2012 we are planning a plains game hunt in Africa and I can’t wait.

Good Hunting,
