Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunts in Texas – Jeff’s Bull

Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunts in Texas –

Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunts in Texas

Once we got Bruce’s Oryx all cleaned up and in the cooler it was time to get back in the pasture and complete Jeff’s Scimitar Horned Oryx hunts in Texas. We made our way back up the same ridge were we began the stalk that produced Bruce’s bull. Right away we spotted a big group of Scimitar and we began to try to move a little closer. As we approached The Oryx made their way down onto the next level on the side of the ridge. I quickly waved to Jeff let’s go and I began to make my way out to the point. As we made our way out there I could see the Oryx down to our left just holding for now but I figured when they started to move they would funnel across right in front of us. Some of the Oryx had made it around the point already but we got to watch about 20 of them funnel across. Well I didn’t see any bulls that I felt would be big enough so we spotted a lone bull on the next ridge making his way down to the flat. We moved into position to take a better look at this bull and he quickly made his way across in front of us. I determined he was to small. So while Jeff’s Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunts had heated up to a low boil we just couldn’t close the deal. We were quickly back in the mule locating the herd. Once we had them located we got back out and began to stalk closer to the herd. Before we made it we had a huge cow come across and stare us down. We quickly noticed a Bull coming across with her. After judging the horns I made the call and Jeff got on the sticks and waited for a shot. As the Oryx spotted us he quickly trotted forward and stopped to look back 1 more time. As soon as he did Jeff let is 300 wsm bark and his Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunts In Texas came to a close. Jeff had mentioned wanting to try for a blackbuck as well so the story is not over yet.

Congrats Jeff on a nice bull.
